Africa’s most colourful gay event – in the heart of the Garden Route!

Set in “South Africa’s Favourite Town of the Year”, the spectacularly colourful affair basically shuts down the tranquil Garden Route hub with five raucous days of shows, entertainment, a mini-market and heaps of over-the-top, flamboyant fun. Unquestionably a global highlight for the LGBTQ community, the festive carnival also appeals to anyone else who wants to celebrate diversity and acceptance.

Locals find it lekker too — Knysna shop-owners get in on the action by competing to win the title of Best Window Display and businesses offer sweet accommodation deals for the overcrowded town.

The barrage of drag shows, beauty pageants, art exhibitions and all-night jols culminates in a street parade, on Saturday, featuring fabulous floats and street performances followed by special afterparties.

Feathers, fairy wings and impossibly high stilettos are taking over Knysna.Here’s a quick look at what else you can expect at the out and proud fiesta.

Pink Loerie VIP Dinner
Partiers are invited to partake in a three-course, five-star meal that includes complimentary Barefoot Wine at the Simola Hotel Country Club and Spa

Mr. Mardi Gras
Irresistible males strut their stuff for a chance to win the coveted title of Mr. Mardi Gras at Zanzibar Night Club on Friday, 3 May at 10pm. Participants will model jeans and Bone Wear clothing for a go at some of the fantastic prizes, including a ride on a parade float. Entrance is R50p/p

Street Parade
The pinnacle of Pink Loerie comes with fantastic floats and brilliant costumes sailing down the streets of Knysna. The parade starts at on Saturday, 3pm sharp from behind Pledge Square. Floats must be ready and in line at 2:30pm.
